Compliance Analyst (KYC/AML)

Kigali, RwandaFull-timeOn-site

About ZuriFi

ZuriFi builds financial infrastructure for emerging markets — modular rails for payments, digital assets, asset digitization, trading and market access, purpose-built for banks, fintechs and brokers. Our rails are live: real users, real partners, and real money moving through the system every day.

The role

We're hiring a Compliance Analyst, based in Kigali, to run the day-to-day of KYC, AML, and transaction monitoring, and to support the legal and licensing work behind it. Today the founders handle this between everything else, with outside counsel on call. You'll take it over, build the case files and habits a regulator expects, and grow into the compliance function as we open new markets. This is an early-career role with a lot of exposure and a clear path upward.

What you'll do

  • Review KYC and KYB submissions end to end — identity documents, proof of address, business registrations, and source-of-funds — and make clear, documented decisions on each case.
  • Run sanctions, PEP, and adverse-media screening at onboarding and on an ongoing basis, and escalate true hits with a written rationale.
  • Monitor transactions across our payout and digital-asset rails, investigate alerts, and prepare suspicious activity reports for review by the founders and our counsel.
  • Keep the compliance records straight: case files, screening logs, policy versions, and the evidence trail an auditor or regulator will ask for.
  • Support legal and licensing work — draft and track regulator correspondence, assemble licence application packs, and keep partner agreements and terms of service organised and current.
  • Help turn today's manual checks into tooling: write up what you do, spot what repeats, and work with engineering to automate it.

What we're looking for

  • 1–3 years in KYC, AML, compliance, risk, or audit at a bank, fintech, mobile money operator, or law firm — or a strong graduate in law, finance, or a related field with a demonstrated interest in financial compliance.
  • Working knowledge of AML/CFT fundamentals: customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, sanctions screening, and suspicious activity reporting.
  • Careful and thorough: you read the whole document, notice when two things don't line up, and write down why you decided what you decided.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets and dashboards, and quick to pick up new tools.
  • Clear written English — you'll be drafting notes that regulators, auditors, and partners will read.
  • Based in Kigali, or ready to relocate — this role is on-site with the team.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Rwandan financial regulation — the National Bank of Rwanda and the Financial Intelligence Centre — or another East African regime.
  • Exposure to stablecoins or digital-asset compliance, including blockchain analytics tools.
  • A CAMS, ICA, or similar certification in progress or completed.
  • Kinyarwanda and/or French.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary with a clear path to Compliance Officer as the function grows.
  • Direct mentorship from the founders and our external counsel — you'll sit in on regulator and partner conversations from week one.
  • Real cases from day one: live onboarding, live transactions, live licensing work across several markets.
  • Budget and time for a professional certification such as CAMS.
  • Relocation support to Kigali if you're moving.
